*IMPORTANT UPDATE*

*Nomination Disqualification*

We understand that there is a strong desire to see a fiction do well in the awards.

We understand the want and desire to promote a story through Author Notes, End notes, Twitter, Blogs, LJ's.

However, it has come to our attention that authors may be using the awards inappropriately. IE- readers vote and the author will update or write from a different character POV.

In the view of The Faithful Shipper Awards Team, this can only be seen as bribery.

Influencing, bribery, or padding votes, is simply not what this awards was set up for. It was set up to recognize strong, original stories and authors while hopefully introducing their work to new readers. It was not intended to be used in the way that some authors have made it.

In order to protect the integrity of The Faithful Shipper Awards, we are following the example set by The Indie TwiFic Awards which stated:

  • Examples of this influence may include but are not limited to: the offering of outtakes, faster updates, or new stories in exchange for votes or consideration. If this is discovered, the nominated story will be immediately disqualified and removed from the nomination or voting ballot.

While The Indies disqualification rule applied to authors using their influence to garner votes for other authors, The Faithful Shipper Awards are extending this rule to the authors of the fictions as well.

While this ruling may not sit well with some, it is made with the purest intent to keep the integrity of the awards and to make sure all authors have a level playing field.

Thank you,

The Faithful Shipper Awards Team
